The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, received this Wednesday at the Miraflores Palace the Secretary of the Interior of the United States (USA), Doug Burgum, who is visiting Caracas to strengthen cooperation in the field of mining.
Earlier, the U.S. official arrived at Simón Bolívar de Maiquetía International Airport, where he was greeted by the Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe and North America, Oliver Blanco.
Burgum, according to a Presidential Press release, is known for being a technology entrepreneur and the former governor of North Dakota for the period 2016-2024.
He took office as U.S. Secretary of the Interior with a focus on energy policies, as he also heads the National Energy Dominance Council (NEDC), a structure created by the U.S. administration in 2025 to centralize energy policy, accelerate fossil fuel production and reduce regulations.
