The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, stressed that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Petrleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) and Refinería de Petrleos de Escombreras Oil S.A. (REPSOL) is part of the energy agenda that the country is developing with its international partners.
He noted that the agreement has a national and international impact because of its relationship with access to energy and to the stability of the global energy formula.
Rodríguez highlighted that REPSOL has been operating in Venezuela for years and that it has accompanied the country in times of external restrictions. He indicated that bilateral cooperation is aimed at ensuring supply, operational continuity and energy development. “Every agreement we sign in Miraflores on hydrocarbons, gas and petrochemistry is aimed at the welfare of the Venezuelan people,” he said.
The president in charge explained that Venezuela and its partners are working on an energy projection for 2050, focused on secure access to energy for countries in the global south. He stressed that the signed agreement will make it possible to advance in new areas of cooperation between PDVSA and REPSOL, both in gas and oil, under the framework of the Ministry of Petroleum.
Rodríguez reported that both parties will initiate technical evaluations to expand cooperation and strengthen domestic production. He thanked REPSOL for its continuity in the country and reiterated that Venezuela maintains a regulatory framework that guarantees legal security for investments. “Repsol has open doors in Venezuela to continue expanding its investments and to project a joint energy agenda for the future,” he said.
