President in charge highlighted the work of fishermen in the balance sheet for Easter 2026

The president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, congratulated the fishermen and women fishermen of Venezuela for their contribution to the country's food supply and economic growth, during the balance sheet of Operation Holy Week 2026.

“I want to congratulate the fishermen and women fisherwomen of Venezuela because they are making an extraordinary contribution to guaranteeing food, the protein of the sea of Blue Venezuela to our people, but also participating in economic growth,” said Rodríguez.

He pointed out that the weight of the fishing sector in the Gross Domestic Product has been increasing every year and recalled that in 2025 the participation reached 6%.

“This is thanks to the hardworking hands of our fishermen, who have also organized themselves into the National Union of Fishermen and Aquaculturists,” he added.

Rodríguez stressed that the popular organization plays a role in economic development and in the country's capacity to face the blockade.

“The organization has been at the service of our people to overcome the illegitimate and criminal blockade against Venezuela. On behalf of our people, I thank our fishermen and women fishermen,” he said.

For his part, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, presented the results of the Venezuela Eat Fish Plan. He reported that this year there was an increase of 17%, with 366 tons distributed only during the Major Week.

He added that the plan doubled the volume entered into the Wholesale Car Market compared to the previous year. “We reached almost 700 tons, with an increase of 69% in the main week alone, and also with prices between 30 and 40% below,” he explained.

Loyo pointed out that the key to the result was the direct participation of organized fishermen. “As you have always guided, President, the world of fishermen, the National Union of Fishermen and Aquaculturists, was the one that developed the offer. 972 points were activated. We told him 1,000, but we still have two weeks left,” he said.
