“We reiterate our willingness to build long-term relationships based on mutual respect,” the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, replied to the US president Donald Trump, who this Saturday officially recognized the Government of Venezuela.

“President @RealDonaldTrump, we received this decision as a recognition to the people of Venezuela and their just cause for the truth of our country. We reiterate our willingness to build long-term relationships based on mutual respect, equality and international law, with a view to promoting a work agenda that strengthens cooperation for the benefit of both countries,” he said through his Telegram channel.

With this message released on her Telegram channel, the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, affirmed that Venezuela maintains a clear position on the importance of advancing a bilateral relationship based on diplomatic principles.

He noted that the country is willing to work on a common agenda to address differences and consolidate spaces for cooperation.

Rodríguez stressed that diplomatic dialogue is the mechanism to address outstanding issues between the two governments and to advance coincidences. He indicated that Venezuela maintains a line of work aimed at the peaceful resolution of differences.

The statement came after the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Saturday that his country formally recognized the current Government of Venezuela.

“I am pleased to announce that this week we officially recognized the Government of Venezuela. We have legally recognized them,” he said during the “Shield of America” summit, held in Miami
