This Thursday, February 26, the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, sent a message to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, “as a friend, as a partner, who are opening a new agenda of cooperation with the United States, cease sanctions and end the blockade against our country”.

This was stated at the Teresa Carreño Theater, where she led the Great Meeting with Venezuelan Youth, where she stressed that “this blockade is also against Venezuelan youth, and the Venezuelan youth in full demand an end to sanctions, an end to the blockade against Venezuela”.

“I wanted to take advantage of this event, the youth act to send a message to the President of the United States, Donald Trump. President Trump said yesterday that he was a friend and partner of Venezuela and I celebrate and salute that concept that we have of Venezuela,” he said.

He emphasized that "Venezuela has never been an enemy country of the United States, Venezuela has never been a country that threatens the United States, or any country on the planet. Our nation has always had a politics and a geopolitical conception of friendship and cooperation.”

She said that “I feel very happy, very calm to be able to send this message to President Trump, from the youth event, because I feel accompanied by your energy, I feel accompanied by your dreams, by your aspirations, by that vision that we have of the future.”

The president in charge asserted that the events that occurred on January 3rd are the responsibility of the extremist right and the international media in the face of the constant publication of distortions of the reality of Venezuela.

“We started off on a very bad foot on January 3rd of this year, as you know, we were victims of military aggression by a nuclear power in this continent. And why did that happen? For so many years that transnational communications companies carried lies about our country, for so many years that extremist sectors of Venezuelan politics carried lies about Venezuela and carried requests that our country be attacked, be blocked,” he criticized.

In this context, he reiterated that “I hope and it is the feeling of Venezuelans, that as friends of the United States and of all the countries of the world, that the blockade and sanctions against Venezuela will cease.”

“Our young people have the right, they have the right to vindicate their aspirations, that our workers have the right to wages and to a fair income, for themselves and for their families and that is the national feeling,” she said.
