On Father's Day, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, extended a greeting of love, respect and gratitude to all parents in Venezuela, highlighting their role in the spiritual, family and national construction of the country.

“This Father's Day, Cilia and I send you a hug full of love, respect and gratitude. In these five dimensions, we reflect the depth and integral greatness of 'Being a father' today,” he said.

He then presented the five dimensions of being a father today, which he defined as a spiritual, historical and human guide for Venezuelan families:

1. Heavenly Father
The
first dimension is to live in perfect harmony with the Heavenly Father who is in our lives. As Jesus taught: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, let your Kingdom come” (Mt 6:9-10). Every parent must look to God to learn to protect, forgive, guide and love.

2. The father-country, Simon Bolivar
The second dimension is to keep alive the validity of the original project of the Father of the Fatherland, Simon Bolivar: independence, dignity, union and great destiny for Venezuela. Bolivar remains an inspiration and a mandate for those who believe in a free and sovereign Homeland.

3. The Father of Life
The
third dimension is thanking the father who gave the first hand, the first word and the first example. “From his blood we come and we are forever,” he said. He raised his honor and love to his father, Nicolás de Jesús Maduro García, whom he recognized as the root of his life and his journey.

4. The father-teacher, Hugo Chávez
The fourth dimension is to keep in mind, with daily loyalty, the father-teacher Hugo Chávez, who formed what we are and what we will be. Chávez taught to love the people, to serve with humility and never to give up.

5. The father-people
The fifth dimension is to support the father-people with love: the working father, the peasant, the worker, the young man, the grandfather father, the father who builds family and community in deep Venezuela.

The President closed his message by quoting the Word of God:
“The Word says: 'The just walk in his integrity; his children are happy after him' (Prov 20:7). There lies the greatness of the true father: to sow love, example and future.”
