This Tuesday, April 21, from the social network X, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, sent a message one year after the earthly departure of Pope Francis.
With an image next to the Supreme Pontiff, he placed "The Pope who taught us prayer. On the occasion of the first year of his physical departure, I pay tribute, with deep admiration and affection, to Pope Francis. On behalf of Venezuela, I recognize your courage, your clear word and your love for suffering peoples. Francis always called for peace, for dialogue and for the defense of human dignity in the face of evil, injustice and lies.”
He added that “thanks to their love and closeness to our people, today Venezuela joyfully venerates San José Gregorio Hernández and Santa Carmen Rendiles on the universal Catholic altar. In gratitude for your solidarity, and with the desire to speak to God from the heart and always seek the truth, I share your teaching on prayer, as it appears in the Gospel of Luke 11, 1-4 and 9-10. Thank you Pope Francis! You sowed hope forever.”
The publication is dated in New York City, United States, this Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
