The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, sent a message to the Venezuelan people this Sunday from the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), in New York, United States, where he is kidnapped after the January 3 attacks.

The letter was released by his son, the deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra, through social networks.

In his communication, the president emphasized the importance of faith and collective action in the construction of Popular Power.

He stressed that this day coincides with the work of communities and the role of women in the social organization of the country.

Maduro presented as his central theme the motto: “The faith that moves mountains and the action that builds the new, in Christ and Bolivar”. He recalled the passage from Matthew 21:21 to highlight the spiritual force that impels people to overcome difficulties and to advance in the defense of the homeland.

Prayer for the faith that moves mountains and the action that builds the new, in Christ and Bolivar

President Nicolás Maduro Moros New York
City

Today, March 8, Women's Day, we come before God and Bolivar, together with the beloved communes of Venezuela, to ask the Lord to accompany us on this day of building Popular Power, carried out by the courageous hands of our women and men of the people.

Let us raise this slogan that guides us as a central idea: “The faith that moves mountains and the action that builds the new, in Christ and Bolivar.”

Jesus taught us: “If you have faith and don't hesitate, you can even say to that mountain: Get out and throw yourself into the sea, and so it will be” (Matthew 21:21). Give us that sincere and popular faith, to move the mountains of difficulties that sometimes hold us back, and turn them into a free path for our country.

And Bolívar, in Angostura, showed us the path of action: he called for a popular, just and moral government that would end oppression and bring peace. Today, Bolívar himself invites us to vote and build from the commune a government where equality and freedom reign.

May this day, blessed by God, be a sign of our firm faith and our daily struggle. United in Christ, Bolivar and Chávez, we will make Venezuela a home of love, justice and popular power.

Amen.
