The President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, asked the National Assembly (AN) to hold a broad and inclusive consultation with the sectors involved to discuss the reform of the Anti-Hate Act, whose constitutionality was declared by the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).

“I ask the National Assembly to carry out a broad and inclusive process of consultation with all the sectors involved to hold a broad debate on this proposal,” he said during his message to the Venezuelan people.

He also invited independent organizations to verify the process with freedom and transparency, and reiterated that differences must be addressed within the constitutional framework.

The president recalled that in September she recognized that this instrument had been abused and proposed to reform it to eliminate criminal sanctions and strengthen its educational nature.

At the same time, he indicated that, once the reform of the Anti-Hate Act is enacted, the Justice System must review the cases of persons criminally prosecuted on the basis of it.
