Presidential Commission began evaluation and recovery of areas affected by earthquakes at the UCV

The Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), university authorities and the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Housing and Infrastructure Habitability, began a series of inspections on the campus to identify and solve the risk areas generated by the earthquake of last June 24.

The Maintenance Directorate and the Preservation and Development Council (COPRED) are also involved in the recovery activities, which participated in the first approach carried out in the Special Testing Warehouse of the Institute of Materials and Structural Models (IMME), whose marquee was detached.

This rapid intervention responds to the need for joint tests and studies between the IMME and the Habitability Commission on materials and structures, to review and build buildings that meet seismic resistant standards.

The publication on the digital platforms of the Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the UCV, states that they are “addressing the critical points, one by one, so that the university is functional and safe for the entire community in the face of the upcoming return to classes and administrative activities in the month of September.”
