The Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) is making progress in the recovery of the industrial area of this campus, located behind the Rafael Rangel National Institute of Hygiene, where the former Directorate of General Services of the University City was located.

As reported by the newspaper Úlmas Noticias, the commission reported that the works include the collection and removal of solid waste, debris and scrap that were thrown and accumulated in the area for years; as well as the demolition of improvised structures, the cutting of weeds and the recovery of the plant area, the cleaning and disinfection of the area, the evaluation and clearance of recoverable buildings.

In this regard, it is planned, in the medium term, to recover the functionality of the maintenance workshops that were previously operating in that space.

In addition, to the west, was the nursery that served to replenish the campus's arboreal plant species, which was abandoned.

In the place there is still a building where the boilers that provided steam and hot water to many university buildings operated, as well as the building that served as a laundry for the lingerie used in the University Clinical Hospital. Both structures are being evaluated to initiate a subsequent recovery process.
