Reinaldo Argüello won the first medal for Venezuelan boating in an edition of the Junior Pan American Games.
Argüello won the bronze medal with a time of 1:56.54 and was surpassed by Argentinian Aramis Sánchez who won gold with 1:51.41 followed by Brazil's Mateus Nunes with 1.51.44.
In the event that took place as a direct final, Argüello was the one who led the first meters of the decisive heat over the countries Brazil and Argentina.
“I fulfilled the race strategy that I had been planning before in my training sessions and that I corrected every time I went into the water. Fortunately, everything went as I wanted and he won me a medal,” explained Argüello, a press review by the Ministry of Sports.
He also assured that it is a medal that I have been waiting for for a long time. “With perseverance, effort and the support of my coaches, I succeeded,” he said.
The canoeing of the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción will last two more days until August 23 with team and doubles events, where Venezuela will seek more options for the continental podium.
