This Saturday, January 06, the Bolivarian Government began the transfer of the remains of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes, to the National Pantheon in Caracas, after holding an event in the Tumremo parish, Sifontes municipality of Bolívar state, to honor this man who confronted the English and threw them out of our Guiana Esequiba.
During the activity, the governor of Bolívar, Ángel Marcano, described this act as a historic day of justice for General Domingo Antonio Sifontes. “It's an act of patriotic love, Venezuela is a country that has many heroes who liberated half a continent and a lot of history,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of spreading the historical truth of our Homeland. “Part of what we have to do is to vindicate, teach, that our people see who our real heroes are, who are the ones who set us free and who are those who have continued to fight over time to remain free and to have a Homeland,” he said.
He emphasized that thanks to Commander Hugo Chávez and the Bolivarian Revolution, the true history of our country began to be vindicated and unveiled.
“Today, when North American imperialism is once again stalking, it is our duty to put ourselves at the forefront of that struggle (...) to continue defending the sovereignty of our country,” he said.
For his part, the sole authority of Guiana Essequiba, Alexis Rodríguez Cabello, recognized the People of Tumremo, and thanked President Nicolás Maduro for taking the decision to vindicate and bring the remains of General Sifontes to the National Pantheon.
“He is going to meet our Father (Simon) Bolivar and greats like Ezequiel Zamora. Today is a day of Fatherland, of courage, it is a day of defense of our people,” he said, detailing the route that the remains of General Sifontes will take to reach the Pantheon.
He stressed that today when history repeats itself and our Homeland is being attacked with sanctions, blockades and threats, General Sifontes is a great example for the people of Venezuela.
