Since Thursday, members of the Risk Management System, together with forest fire brigades and volunteers, have been carrying out fire fighting, containment and liquidation operations in Henri Pittier (Aragua) and Macarao (Miranda) national parks.
According to information provided by the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Alfred Nazaret Ñáñez, at Henri Pittier, the service commissions composed of forest firefighters and park rangers of the National Park Institute (INPARQUES), and volunteer groups, are working to liquidate an event that took place in the Pozo El Diablo sector.
In addition, in Las Mayas-Valle Verde, also owned by Henri Pittier, a group of fighters was inserted by air to directly put out the fire, while “Operation Rain” was being deployed there, through the aircraft identified as PA001, with rotary wings (helicopter), taking off from the sector of the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INIA) - Central University of Venezuela (UCV).
In the area there is constant monitoring through the use of aerial technology (drones), operated by personnel at the command post enabled for the contingency, allowing precise surveillance over controlled areas.
Náñez reported that so far there have been a total of 100 hectares impacted, according to the press release of the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism.
Regarding Macarao Park, he indicated that the situation is under control and the personnel have started the ash guard phase, to avoid possible restarts and secure lines of defense.
The Minister recalled that the work is coordinated by the National Committee for the Control and Control of Environmental Impacts, which maintains specialized personnel in the territory to carry out the relevant investigations and find the causes of the fires.
The presence of fire extinguishers in areas with fire incidents reaffirms responsibility for safeguarding natural heritage, “especially at times when wildlife requires priority protection, through the tireless efforts of forest firefighters and volunteers. Fire is not a game!” , said Ñáñez.
