Reading became an emotional support tool for 27 girls, boys and young people from the San Pedro Claver transitory camp, located in the 23 de Enero parish of Caracas, who participated in a day of oral storytelling as part of the Route of Hope program.
The activity, carried out by the National Book Center (CENAL), presented the story “The Huge Nothing” by the Mexican writer María Baranda, published by the Fund for Economic Culture (FCE), a story that addresses fear and the way to face it through imagination and reflection.
Reading promoter Giorgia Alvarado explained that the story allowed participants to identify their own fears and understand how they can overcome them through decision-making and self-confidence, especially in the context of emotional recovery after the earthquakes that occurred last June 24.
These activities are part of the cultural actions promoted in the transitional camps to provide spaces for recreation, learning and well-being to affected families.
