The president of the National Museums Foundation, Mary Pemjean, announced that in April the national call for the II Elsa Morales National Art Salon will open.

This was announced during the closing of the first edition of this event, which took place at the National Art Gallery (GAN), located in Caracas.

The cultural proposal received more than 117,000 visitors during its five-month exhibition at the Carlos Cruz-Diez Museum, and the Armando Reverón Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas. 450 works were presented at the exhibition, showing various artistic techniques such as painting, drawing, photography, graphic arts, sculpture, assemblage, textile art, fire arts, video art, and other disciplines.

“For the second edition, we would like to be able to have indigenous arts and performance as well,” said the representative of the Elsa Morales Foundation, Frank Morales.

For his part, the curator of the exhibition, Clemente Martínez, expressed his satisfaction at originally receiving more than 1,200 artistic creations.

“In this first edition, we opted for the 450 pieces that the public was able to enjoy during these five months of exhibition. Already for the second edition, the work will be more rigorous because we will have more artistic disciplines,” he explained.

The closing of the event included the presentation of Joropo Tuyero's group from the Miranda School of Knowledge; and the Wind Chamber Orchestra of the Ministry of Popular Power for Defense, directed by teacher Néstor Albany Castro.
