The vice-president of the Permanent Committee for Integral Social Development of the National Assembly (AN), Rubén Limas, stated that this legislative body contemplates the possibility of integrating health personnel into the Plan to Order Motorcycling, with the objective of raising awareness among drivers of two-wheeled vehicles.

“This intergovernmental commission already had two previous meetings and the health subcommittee was installed with us on June 4... we have to involve psychologists, psychiatrists, traumatologists, surgeons and hospital directors, given that this is a very complex problem,” he stressed when interviewed by a national media outlet.

In addition, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), he highlighted that it is an issue that goes beyond road safety to delve into public health.

In this regard, he referred, among other measures, to the importance of the use of helmets, given that more than 80% of motorcyclists and grillers suffer injuries to the cranioencephalic region.

He also highlighted that the first step of this initiative focuses on ensuring compliance with the law.

He indicated that an inter-ministerial team is already working on technical tables to design the proposal for a new strategic plan for road safety.
