The president of the Special Commission for Monitoring the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, Jorge Arreaza, announced the creation of three subcommissions responsible for organizing the treatment of cases received by the parliamentary institution.

Arreaza explained that the first subcommittee will be dedicated to direct monitoring of the Amnesty Law and will be coordinated by the deputy Nora Bracho, vice-president of the commission. Its task will be to examine the processes related to the procedures established by the standard and to coordinate with the organs of the judicial system.

The second subcommittee will deal with cases of workers in the world of work that are not strictly contemplated by law. This area will be coordinated by Deputy Francisco Torrealba, with the help of Deputy Pablo Pérez.

The third subcommittee will focus on complementary cases related to Article 15 of the Act. Arreaza stressed that these are situations that are not amnestiable according to the 13 facts defined in article 8, but that they may contain elements derived from political confrontation. That work will be carried out in coordination with Ernesto Villegas, who has collected information and testimonies that will be integrated into the documentary base of the commission.

Arreaza recalled that the instance is part of the National Assembly and that its function is to coordinate with the judicial system and with the Program for Coexistence and Peace the review of each process submitted to Parliament.
