The competitions of the XXV Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games officially began, although the formal inauguration is scheduled for this Friday, July 24.
Water polo began this Monday, July 20 at the water complex of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. While badminton will see action on Thursday, July 23.
This edition of the Games brings together more than 5,000 athletes from all over the region, who will be measured throughout a program that includes 40 disciplines on the agenda.
To ensure the success of this great event, the Dominican government made a significant financial effort, according to the Minister of Housing and Buildings, Víctor Bisonó, the total investment in infrastructure and organization is around 9 billion Dominican pesos (approximately 150 million dollars).
The brigades of workers finalize the details and give the finishing touches to the sports facilities, while security, transport and logistics operations are deployed and fine-tuned to receive international delegations, specialized press and fans who will bring these historic games to life.
