Based on the use of science for life and peace, this Tuesday was the day of the teacher training plan dedicated to Natural Sciences, said the Deputy Minister of Secondary Education, Eloy Sira.

This is the second session of this academic initiative started the day before in the context of the new school year, which seeks to adapt the methods and contents to the current reality.

“We must recognize the non-neutrality of science and knowledge. Science and knowledge are influenced by the economic, political and cultural conditions of a society. If we have warrior presidents, they will look for scientists to make weapons for war, we have seen that; but if we have pacifist presidents, they will seek scientists for peace and for life, as we do in Venezuela,” he argued.

In this regard, the Deputy Minister urged teachers to make children and young people fall in love with science by understanding its humanist sense, to generate motivations for them, and thus they will seek to study careers related to science.

“Talking about science is fascinating. Just as we talk about our great heroes, we can proudly speak of people such as Rafael Rangel, father of parasitology and bioanalysis, of José Gregorio Hernández, who in addition to being a doctor was a professor at the UCV (Central University of Venezuela), of Jacinto Convit and his contributions to the cure of leprosy, among others. We can have a long list of people who made important contributions to science, there are substantive contributions from Venezuela to science,” he stressed.

The subjects in the Natural Sciences area in consultation are Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth Sciences.

The teacher training plan, according to a press release from the Ministry of Education, continues this Wednesday with the Language area, Thursday corresponds to Mathematics, while Friday ends the cycle with a dissertation on the challenges and challenges of the new school year. The contents are currently undergoing an open review and consultation process that does not involve the design of a new study package.
