The Teresa Carreño Theater will open its doors to celebrate this Wednesday, May 14, the National Day of Dramaturgy, with a series of activities organized by the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, through the National Theater Company (CNT) and the Editorial Foundation The Dog and the Frog.
Among the activities that will take place, starting at 11:00 in the morning, are the naming of the book “Times”, by the outstanding playwright José Gregorio Cabello Patiño, the special presentation by Marialcira Matute, renowned host of the program The Media Library of Venezolana de Televisión. In addition, the talented actress María Cristina Molinati will delight those present with the interpretation of an excerpt from the play “Witch”, included in the book.
Cabello expressed her deep joy at naming her book on National Dramaturgy Day: “It's like a party. It is the way of showing with facts that the Venezuelan State has a book policy that, through its publishers, makes visible the creative work of its writers”.
This is the first book christening carried out by the CNT in 2025. In this regard, Yaritza Medina López, the institution's Research Coordinator, reported: “The publication plan promoted by the National Theater Company has succeeded in developing a collection that includes contemporary Venezuelan dramaturgy, biographies of national theater figures and theatrical essays in partnership with the Editorial Foundation The Dog and the Frog.”
“Our goal is to cover great aspects to complete the spectrum of our time, with the ancient and modern classics of our dramaturgy, theory and history of Venezuelan theater, Venezuelan scenology and Latin American and universal theater in general. This book Tiempos, by José Gregorio Cabello Patiño, adds ten titles to the collection and, by the end of the year, we will have six more titles and alliances with other publishers on the book platform,” he said.
