Deputies to the National Assembly (AN) and members of the Program for Coexistence and Peace invited the population to join the Great Pilgrimage for Peace and without sanctions, convened by the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, and which will begin this Sunday, April 19, until May 1.

In this regard, the coordinator of the Program for Coexistence and Peace, Ernesto Villegas, reported that the pilgrimage will begin in the states of Táchira, Zulia and Amazonas.

He pointed out that the proposal transcends political and religious divisions, noting that “this call is not restricted to political parties and identities” and that it is an inclusive process in which different sectors of society converge.

He also indicated that the day includes both mobilizations and symbolic expressions on social networks and public spaces. “We are going to take to social networks with Venezuelan artistic creation, with messages for peace and for a Venezuela free of sanctions,” he said.

He added that the objective is to strengthen national unity and the defense of sovereignty. “We call on all Venezuelans to unite and that on this national pilgrimage, without distinction, we can say in one voice: Long live Venezuela My Dear Homeland,” he said.

For her part, the executive secretary of the Program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence, Ana María Sanjuán, highlighted the inclusive nature of the call, stating that “peace is more than the absence of conflict, it is more than a flower garden, peace is debate, it is confrontation in democracy, recognition with respect”.

He reaffirmed that the initiative seeks to promote spaces for encounter and collective construction. “No more sanctions, let's all go together on the presented route, the different, the same, those from above, those from below,” he said.

In the same way, deputies from the sectors of opportunity highlighted the importance of these spaces for meeting between different political and social factors to advance consensus.

“We are witnessing the beginning of a great national agreement that the country is demanding,” said Deputy Timoteo Zambrano.

For his part, the national secretary general for Democratic Action, Bernabé Gutiérrez, stressed that national unity is being consolidated today more than ever, with the objective of promoting the development of the Venezuelan homeland.

In addition, he maintained that the political organization will accompany the great pilgrimage for peace and the lifting of sanctions until the last day.
