This Saturday, November 08, at the Birthplace of the Liberator, Simon Bolivar, in Caracas, the national fire of the 20th Ayacucho-Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games was lit, which also marked the beginning of their journey with the athletes Carlos Bello and Sofía Carucci, who are part of the delegation that will represent Venezuela in this important sporting event.

After a tour of the historic center of the Capital City, the patriotic fire was greeted by the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, who highlighted to the athletes the support of all of Venezuela in this sporting event.

“In front of the Father of the Fatherland, we ask you for many medals to continue to cheer up our country with victories, victories that give us a lot of joy (...) luck, boys,” he said. At the same time, the pride of igniting this flare more than 200 years ago among Venezuelan youth stood out.

He recalled that Venezuela has participated in all 19 editions of these games and this time it will do so again with 526 athletes. “May the best man win, but I really am sure that this girl who is going to represent us will bring us a lot of medals and surely the Championship,” she said.

In addition, he indicated that Caracas aspires to host the Bolivarian Games very soon. In turn, he reiterated that from Venezuela we will accompany our athletes.

In the same way, the Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, said to ignite this patriotic fire that will guide all the delegations that will participate in these games. At the same time, he reiterated Venezuela's commitment to this sporting event that transmits the values that allow us to continue training better citizens.

In addition, the president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, María Soto, reaffirmed the support that will be provided at all times to Venezuelan athletes. “With or without medals, you are our heroes and heroines, we will be there at all times supporting you,” he said.

At the same time, he added that our athletes will carry a message “not only of fighting for our flag, but also of carrying the message of union, of loyalty, of virtues, but in addition to that, of passion and dedication for what we do”.

For his part, the president of the Peruvian Olympic Committee, Renzo Manyari, thanked the Venezuelan people for their kindness and outstanding professionalism. In turn, he highlighted the hope transmitted by these games that form building better communities through sports.

“Today we embody that Bolivarian flame, whose message of peace, hope and unity, my mission is to take my homeland back to Lima and Ayacucho,” he said.

To conclude this day, in which a floral offering was also made to the Father of the Fatherland in Plaza Bolívar and a cultural presentation by the Venezuelan National Dance Company, the Venezuelan authorities handed over the national fire to the president of the Peruvian Olympic Committee, Renzo Manyari. He will have the honor of taking you to the city of Ayacucho.
