Trujillo: 218 patients with ophthalmic pathologies were operated on through the National Surgical Plan

A total of 218 patients with ophthalmic diseases were operated on through the National Surgical Plan, a program promoted by the Bolivarian Government.

According to information published on the web portal of the newspaper Últimas Noticias, the interventions were performed at the Doctor Pedro Emilio Carrillo University Hospital in the city of Valera.

Germán Serrano, the sole health authority in the state, said that “this is the first phase of care for ophthalmic cases in the state of Trujillo; our goal is to meet the resolution of 400 cases per month.”

He also explained that the surgeries were performed free of charge and in response to requests processed through the VenApp. In addition, he noted that prior to these interventions, 1,801 free exams were carried out, including laboratory tests, preoperative evaluations and biometric studies.
