Turkish president offers himself as mediator between Ukraine and Russia

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his willingness to act as an intermediary and host peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

This was reported by international news agencies and according to RT, which mention this proposal, which would have been expressed by the Turkish president during a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian Volodimir Zelenski.

During the call, Erdogan stated that his country is making “intense efforts to stop the bloodshed and guarantee permanent peace and therefore its willingness to be a mediator”.

The president assured that “Türkiye is willing to assume the role of facilitator and host of talks to guarantee peace in Ukraine”.

He also stressed the importance of “establishing a ceasefire in Ukraine as soon as possible and opening the doors to peace”.
