At the headquarters of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, a cordial and fraternal meeting took place between the Deputy Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Tatiana Pugh, and the ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia accredited to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Fikry Cassidy, in which they discussed the bilateral agenda for the coming months, as well as the current aspects of both nations.
Ambassador Cassidy presented Credentials to President Nicolás Maduro on July 31, when the Venezuelan Head of State emphasized the importance of strengthening South-South cooperation in various areas, including politics, the economy, the social and the cultural. The protocol ceremony highlighted the importance of holding the Fourth Joint Commission between the two nations.
Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Indonesia were established on October 9, 1959 and, since then, they have been strengthening in all areas, taking into account the importance of the Asian country as the headquarters of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its recent entry into the BRICS block.
