The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, held a telephone contact this Wednesday with the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, a call that she described as “respectful and constructive”.
Through his Telegram channel, Rodríguez reported that they addressed “key aspects of bilateral cooperation between Italy and Venezuela, as well as the common economic agenda and opportunities to strengthen exchange and investment.”
In addition, during the conversation, they highlighted the historical and human importance of Italian migration in the Latin American nation, which the president in charge praised as “deeply integrated and valuable for national development”.
The president in charge explained to the Italian diplomat the truth about Venezuela regarding the false narratives that the European media have promoted against the country for years, clarifying that what they call “political prisoners” “are people involved in crimes of corruption, drug trafficking and the illegal sale of weapons, whose cases fall within the scope of common crimes.”
“We agree on the need to maintain direct channels of dialogue that allow progress on issues of common interest to both Peoples,” he stressed.
