The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has learned about the results of the presidential elections held in the Republic of Colombia, which took place in an environment of normality, participation and peace, and in which Abelardo de la Espriella won.
Venezuela reiterates its willingness to continue strengthening relations of cooperation, mutual respect and understanding with Colombia, for the benefit of both sister peoples.
Historical experience shows that periods marked by incommunication, confrontation and attempts by some groups to fracture the ties between our nations caused significant harm to the peoples of Venezuela and Colombia. For this reason, Venezuela reaffirms its conviction that dialogue, cooperation and respect for sovereignty constitute the only way to consolidate a constructive and profitable relationship for both nations.
