Venezuela is participating in the 38th Bogotá International Book Fair with an
extensive editorial exhibition that brings together more than 200 literary novelties, in an
effort to make national production and its prospects visible in the international arena.
The Venezuelan delegation, led by the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Raúl Cazal, also held a series of talks with authors from the country.
The day began with the participation of the
writer Benito Yrady, who presented his most recent
works, History of Mr. Cody
and The Thunder Box, both published
by Monte Ávila Editores Latinoamericana.
During
his speech, Cazal highlighted the author's career and his link with the country's cultural
expressions. “Talking about culture has a wide meaning
(...) and Benito Yrady has been with our people,” he said, while highlighting
his contribution to contemporary Venezuelan narrative.
The
program also included presentations by renowned authors such as Luis Britto García, Mirla Alcibiades, Rosanna
Álvarez, Aminta Beleño and Neguel Machado, together with international guests such as Fermín Goñi and Sergio Santana.
The Venezuelan stand, managed
by the ministry, includes public, private and independent publishers
such as Fundación Editorial El Perro y la Rana,
Biblioteca Ayacucho and Ediciones Telesur, among others. The fair,
organized by Corferias and the Colombian Book Chamber, is held under the
motto “To listen to us is to read to us” and has India as its guest of honor.
