Venezuela strengthens dialogue and cooperation with UN representatives

The Deputy Minister for Multilateral Issues of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Joaquín Pérez Ay, began this Monday a day of courtesy meetings with representatives of the programs, funds and specialized agencies of the United Nations System present in Venezuela, as part of the ongoing effort to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with the multilateral system.
The diplomat had fruitful exchanges with the resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Luis Thais; the representative of the Office of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Alexis Bonte; and with the acting head of the Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Lia Poggio.
At the meetings, the Deputy Minister thanked the Venezuelan people for their support during the response to the tragedy caused by the double earthquake of last June 24, as well as for the willingness of these agencies to continue supporting national recovery and reconstruction efforts.
We also reiterate the firm commitment of the Government of the President in charge Delcy Rodríguez to continue consolidating close, constructive and results-oriented cooperation with the United Nations System, aligned with our national priorities and the objectives of the Venezuela Renace Plan, emphasized Pérez Ay.
He added that the purpose is to promote with the United Nations System an agenda focused on sustainable development, the comprehensive recovery of the country and the well-being of the Venezuelan people.
