Venezuela vindicates its long tradition of asylum, refuge and reception at a CONARE meeting

From the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Issues of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Joaquín Pérez Ay, led a working meeting of the National Commission for Refugees (CONARE) this Thursday, dedicated to the examination and consideration of requests for refuge, in accordance with Venezuelan legislation and the international commitments assumed by the country in the matter.

 

“We emphasize that, behind every file, there is a person, a face, a family and a story. Therefore, each request must be examined individually, with legal rigor, human sensitivity and full respect for the guarantees and principles that govern international protection,” the diplomat reported on his social networks.

 

He pointed out that Venezuela has a long tradition of asylum, refuge and reception, and that CONARE will continue to work to strengthen its response capacity and to advance progressively in dealing with pending cases, combining speed and rigor, legal security and humanity.

 

Pérez Ayassured that “protecting those who truly need protection is also reaffirming, through concrete actions, the dignity of the human person and the values of solidarity that our country has historically made its own.”
