Venezuela wants to host the next edition of the World Baseball Classic

The Minister for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, reported that the Venezuelan Baseball Federation (FVB) will present a formal proposal for the country to be considered as the host of the next edition of the World Baseball Classic.

During his participation in the program A Pulso broadcast by VTV, Minister Cardillo explained that the president of the FVB, Aracelis León, has held talks with the appropriate bodies to evaluate the viability of this project.

He noted that the efforts include not only the possibility of hosting the tournament, but also the organization of exhibition matches with Major League Baseball (MLB) teams in Venezuela.

“Hopefully Major League Baseball can look at Venezuela, we have the best fans in Latin America and the world. We are sure that we will fill the stadium without needing much, people will arrive alone to enjoy a good ball,” he said. Cardillo

The Minister asserted that the process is in a management phase before the Association of Players and the relevant international organizations.

The institutional approach is based on the capacity of national fans to convene and on the conditions of sports venues to host high-magnitude events.

If implemented, the proposal would mark the return of activities directly linked to the Major League Baseball system to the country, strengthening the competitive calendar in the region.
