The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela confirmed this Saturday its attendance at the hearings related to the territorial dispute over Guiana Essequiba, a process initiated unilaterally by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and which will take place starting next April 4.

In a statement, released by Foreign Minister Yván Gil on his Telegram channel, the Venezuelan State recalled that Guyana promoted this process “in clear ignorance and violation of the Geneva Agreement and international legality.”

Venezuela confirms that it does not recognize the Court's jurisdiction in the territorial dispute over Guiana Essequiba, nor the decision it may take on this matter. Therefore, your attendance at these hearings does not imply, in any way, your consent or recognition of that jurisdiction,” the document states.
