The Venezuelan State, together with the People's Power, intends to produce 11 million plants by 2026 in order to recover basins and protect soils, said Ricardo Molina, the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC).

In a MINEC publication, Molina emphasized that, in order to achieve the goal, efforts must be linked with the People's Power, universities, the Ministry of People's Power for Science and Technology and other State entities.

“This plan includes the production of 250,000 cacao plants and the promotion of species such as bamboo for soil protection,” he said.

He also stressed that popular organization is important to achieve the goals of reforestation and defense of national sovereignty and rigorous planning, with the objective of collecting more than 11 million seeds of 200 different species.

He also highlighted that the National Reforestation Company (CONARE) joins the goal of production and planting, actions that form a central part of Vertex 2: “Sowing for Life” of the Great Mother Earth Venezuela Mission.

Molina invited nurserists to join this mission with the support of Popular and Communal Power, with the ultimate objective of establishing a nursery in every commune of the country, thus strengthening the Sixth Transformation of the Homeland Plan, implemented by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, for the nation's environmental security.

For his part, the president of CONARE, Adolfo Paredes, said that “we are moving towards a family agroforestry model that combines native forest species such as cedar, mahogany and bucare, among others, with fruit trees such as cacao, coffee, soursop and merey, to recover basins, protect soils and provide food support.”
