Venezuela wins three medals in the International Astronomy Challenge Galaxia 2026

The Venezuelan representation of the National Scientific Seedbeds Program won three medals in the International Astronomy Challenge Galaxy 2026, held in Indonesia.

Samantha Buccé, 17, who won the gold medal; Miguel Alejandro Vergel (17) and Antares Mora (16) won bronze.

According to the one published on the Telegram channel of the Minister of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, the participation was virtual “and demonstrating that Venezuelan talent knows no boundaries”.

In this international astronomy and astrophysics competition, our young people demonstrated logical reasoning and their ability to solve quantitative problems in subjects ranging from Fundamental Astronomy, the secrets of the Solar System, the mysteries of stars, galaxies and the cosmos, the structure of the Milky Way, Kepler's laws, dark energy, exoplanets and even gravitational waves,” wrote the minister.
