Venezuelan Ambassador presented Credentials to ASEAN in Jakarta

Ambassador Enrique Acuña reiterated Venezuela's commitment to multilateralism, South-South cooperation and the integration of Peoples

The ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Enrique Antonio Acuña Mendoza, presented his Credentials to the Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Kao Kim Hourn, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Jakarta.

The delivery of credentials of the Venezuelan diplomat, as reported on its website by the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs (MPPRE), constitutes a fundamental step in the process of consolidating relations between Venezuela and ASEAN, especially at a time when both parties seek to deepen cooperation in strategic areas such as investment, tourism, cultural and academic exchanges, as well as the strengthening of commercial ties and of business.

The Secretary General of the Association , Kao Kim Hourn, said that “it was a pleasure to receive him at ASEAN headquarters for the presentation of his Credentials. I appreciated our exchange of ideas and their perspectives on ways to continue strengthening ASEAN-Venezuela relations.”

“I reiterate my warmest congratulations on officially assuming the position of Ambassador to ASEAN, and I look forward to working closely with you to continue to promote our relations,” he said.

Ambassador Acuña reiterated the commitment of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to multilateralism, South-South cooperation and the integration of Peoples.

He also transmitted the greetings of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro and the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil.

Acuña stressed that Venezuelan foreign policy is framed by the principles of sovereignty, self-determination, independence and international solidarity.

In the same way, he stressed that Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy seeks to contribute to the strengthening of ties of friendship and cooperation between Venezuela and the member States of ASEAN, for the benefit of their Peoples, inspired by the ideals of freedom, unity and justice of the Liberator Simon Bolivar.

The ambassador explained the serious situation of the danger posed by the military escalation by the United States in the Caribbean Sea, which threatens not only the security of Venezuela but of the entire region, which violates the decision of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean to declare the region a Zone of Peace and a Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons.
