In the Hall of Shields of the Federal Legislative Palace, a meeting of the Commission for Monitoring the Amnesty Law takes place with the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, and the former president of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

The legislative body analyzes the progress achieved in the application of the legal framework approved unanimously.

The president of the special commission, Jorge Arreaza, indicated in his last report that more than 80% of the requests analyzed were accepted, with the granting of full freedom to people who meet the criteria established by law.

Rodríguez Zapatero is participating in this working day as part of the meetings he has held in the country in relation to the dialogue process and the monitoring of the Amnesty Law.

In February, he held a meeting with the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, and with the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, to evaluate the progress of this political phase.

The former Spanish president has also closely followed the activities of the Program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence, aimed at promoting meeting spaces between the different sectors of the country. These initiatives are developed within the framework of the application of the Amnesty Act and the institutional monitoring of its application.

The National Assembly holds these working sessions with the different actors involved to ensure respect for the legal framework and to carry out the monitoring mechanisms established by the special commission.
