Venezuelan rowing wins first gold medal in Santo Domingo 2026

The duo César Amaris and José Guipe won the first gold medal for Venezuela at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games after dominating the final of the men's short rowing pair with a record of 6:48.30 in the Presa de Rincón, in Bonao.
Guipe, runner-up in San Salvador 2023 in this category, consolidated a performance with Amaris that allowed them to lead from the start with 3:18.67 partials in the first kilometer and close with 6:48.30 in the two thousand meters to secure the title, the Ministry of Sport reported.
The podium was made up of Dominicans Carlos Rodríguez and Ignacio Vásquez with 6:56.21 and Mexicans Rafael Mejía and Roberto Ahumada with 6:59.74 in the final standings.
In the women's category, Keyla García and Kimberlin Moreno won a silver medal for the national delegation at the same competitive venue.
