2024 Super League Professional Basketball season will be named after Garly Sojo

The 2024 Professional Basketball Super League (SPB) will be played in homage to Garly Sojo.

As reported this Friday, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mervin Maldonado, assured that everything is ready for the start of the tournament next Wednesday, May 1.

The championship will be played in its elimination phase in the format of 18 teams divided into two groups of nine teams each, with the four best in each bracket advancing directly to the postseason.

The fifth and sixth of each group will face each other in a play-in where two will qualify to add the 10 teams that will move on to the next phase of direct confrontations.

Of those 10, the top five will advance to the semifinal stage or super round of all against all, where the two finalists will face each other for the title in a series with seven games.

Sojo was a franchise player for the Broncos de Caracas team who died a natural death on December 22 at the age of 24.
