A total of 24 municipalities out of the 29 that make up the state of Táchira have been affected by recent rainfall, reported Yesnardo Canal, director of Civil Protection in the entity.

In statements collected by the newspaper Últimas Noticas, Canal indicated that the number of sectors that have been affected is 186, where landslides, housing collapses, increases in flow rates, erosive pavement scarps have occurred on several roads, among others.

“We have had continuous rains mainly in the Metropolitan Axis, South Zone, Border Area. Some sudden increases in flow rates have not gone out of their way, they remain within their normal and monitored parameters,” said Canal.

Regarding the behavior of the Torbes River, he specified that it is under constant monitoring in everything that has to do with the 14 kilometers in the longitudinal length of the body of water, which goes from the municipality of Cárdenas to the municipality of Torbes.

Civil Protection remains active in the 29 municipalities of Táchira with preventive deployment due to the continuous rainfall that has occurred throughout the state of Táchira. “Tropical waves number 19 and 20 are approaching through Guiana Essequiba, likewise, 20 is in the Central Atlantic and that is why we are monitoring,” said the director of the institution.
