3rd Cumbe San Agustín Film Festival will be held from October 21 to 26 in Caracas

The 100% San Agustín Foundation will present the 3rd Cumb Film Festival and, from October 21 to 26, in six parishes in Caracas with the help of various cultural organizations, announced the general coordinator of this group, Reinaldo Mijares, during a press conference held at the Alameda Theater in the populous community.

Mijares stressed that the festival “has as its slogan Where Caracas sounds and is seen, which continues to grow and offers the city a festival of this level and that is made possible through alliances”.

In the same way, the participation of more than 200 nominated audiovisuals, of which 60 were selected, as well as film screenings and musical presentations, in the Carlos Orta Rooms of the Alameda theater; Margot Benacerraf in Unearte; Antonieta Colón of the Parque Central Cultural Center; Cinemateca Nacional (Museum of Fine Arts).

In addition to the open spaces of the La Agricultura neighborhood in Petare, Longaray in El Valle, the square of El Afinque de Marín, La Fila, Hornos de Cal and Pasaje 8 in San Agustín. As well as, Altos de Lídice, Chapellín and the House of Culture of Pinto Salinas, where the exhibitions called “Cinema in Competition”, “Cinema of the World”, “Children's Cinema”, “Cinema Under the Stars”, “Tribute Cinema” and “Videodances” will be presented.

In the same way, he announced that during the III Cumbe San Agustín Film Festival, the CNAC—Cumbe San Agustín” Award will be awarded, in the categories documentary and fiction feature film, and documentary and fiction short film.

For his part, the president of the National Autonomous Cinematography Center (CNAC), Carlos Azpurúa, said that as an institution and on behalf of the filmmakers, “we are pleased that the prize of this festival bears the name of the CNAC, because the entity is an achievement of the struggle of filmmakers who achieved a law that allows us to have a vision of autonomous cinematographic development and then came the first reform that allows the possibility economic to be able to finance and help make this happen”.

He announced that during the festival, the first CNAC Cinemóvil unit will be inaugurated in the Plaza de la Juventud and that it will multiply in all the squares of Caracas in a joint effort with the representative of the National Cineclube Network, William Santana.

He also commented that by agreement with the National Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE), a film club chair will be created for high school students to implement the culture of the Cineclub in all the spaces that exist in high schools and universities, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
