A dozen choral groups will say goodbye to the National Choir Festival this Friday, June 19, with a gala dedicated to the composer, director and teacher Modesto Bor, in the framework of the centenary of her birth.
According to information from the Ministry for Culture, the concert will take place at 3:00 in the afternoon in the Anna Julia Rojas Room of the Aquiles Nazoa Center for Artistic Creation Studies of the National Experimental University of the Arts (UNEARTE).
The program will bring together choirs, ensembles, cantories and polyphonic groups that will perform a repertoire specially designed for choral performance, with a prominent place for the compositions of Modesto Bor, whose work has been the central axis of this edition of the festival.
Participants include the Caricuao Nucleus Children's Choir and the Juan Bautista Plaza Regional Choir, both of which belong to the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela. The In Terni Quartet, the Clear Vocals Lino Gallardo, the Cantoria Alberto Grau and the Novum Symphon Ensamble will also perform, groups that represent different proposals within the Venezuelan choral movement.
The program also includes the Rafael Suárez Polyphonic, the Orfeón de la Unearte, Núcleo Caracas, the Orfeón Libertador and the Public Defense Choir, which will offer a repertoire comprised of works by Venezuelan and universal composers, as well as traditional pieces from the national songbook.
The National Choir Festival began on June 11 and was organized by the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, through the National Music Company Foundation (FCNM) and UNEARTE, with the purpose of paying homage to the legacy of Modesto Bor and strengthening choral activity in the country.
