Activities start at the Andean Condor Reproduction and Rehabilitation Center in Mérida

The Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism and the Government of the state of Mérida announce the start of the activities of the Center for Reproduction and Rehabilitation of the Condor of the Andes.

This was reported by the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Josué Lorca, through a post on his Instagram account, where he stressed that this is a space that will focus on the Conservation of Raptors and Megarapaces in the Neotropics.

He also asserted that this is the result of the hard efforts of our Bolivarian Government and of strategic alliances with international livestock farms, which allow us to reintroduce an endangered species to its natural habitat.

“The Andean condor is not only a symbol of our biodiversity, but it also plays a crucial role in the ecosystem. As a scavenger, it helps maintain ecological balance by cleaning the environment of organic debris, preventing the spread of diseases. Its presence is an indicator of the health of mountain ecosystems, and its conservation is vital for the well-being of many other species,” the Minister explained.

He also announced that they have initiated a training, training and awareness-raising project to promote the conservation of this species in institutions, schools and communities in the state of Mérida.
