The Standing Committee on Administration and Services began this Wednesday the route to advance the Bill for the Reform of the Law on the Housing and Habitat Benefit Regime, approved in the first discussion on May 30, 2023.

This was reported by the president of the parliamentary body, Deputy Pedro Carreño (PSUV/Delta Amacuro), during the regular meeting this Wednesday, which was attended by the Minister of Popular Power for Habitat and Housing, Ildemaro Villarroel, who presented different proposals for strengthening the legal text.

Carreño explained that the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro; and the President of the Parliament, Deputy Jorge Rodríguez (PSUV/Dtto. Capital), committed themselves to reforming this law for the greater participation of the working class, through their trade union and grassroots organizations of People's Power.

Among the minister's proposals, the inclusion of two representatives in the Board of Directors of the National Housing Bank (BANAVIH) stands out; one from the working class and the other from the People's Power. He also suggested studying the functions of the People's Power Committees and including the terms property, real estate and land.

He said that the purpose is to shield the people with a law that confronts the pretensions of the right, as happened in 2015, when they sought to eradicate social housing policy in Venezuela. He highlighted that during the meetings with the members of the Special Commission for the Reform of the LRPVH, they have reached agreements.

“With this law, we are going to promote and project 2050, as our president has requested, with it for the guarantee of the human right to housing,” stressed the senior official.

It should be noted that the Board of Directors of the National Assembly appointed a Special Commission for the Reform of the Housing and Habitat Benefit Scheme Act, chaired by Deputy Rigel Sergent (PSUV/Dtto Capital). It is made up of parliamentarians Franklin Rondón (PSUV/Anzoátegui), Ramón Lobo (PSUV/Mérida), Ricardo Molina (PSUV/Aragua), Wills Rangel (PSUV/National), Eglée Sánche z (PSUV/Aragua), Carolina Cestari (PSUV/Dtto. Capital) and Luz Coromoto Chacón (PSUV/National).

This is accompanied by representatives of the Bolivarian Socialist Central of Workers of the Countryside and Fishing City of Venezuela, who will meet next Tuesday to study the MPPHV proposals and reflect it in the final report of the bill, for its second discussion and final sanction.
