Alessandrello: The application process for the Judicial Nominations Committee closes on May 1st

The president of the Preliminary Committee of the Judicial Nominations Committee, Deputy Giuseppe Alessandrello, reported that this Friday, May 1st, the application process for joining the Judicial Nominations Committee ends.
Alessandrello highlighted that the day had sustained citizen participation. “So far we have 41 citizens who have taken a step forward and have applied,” he said.
He indicated that on Saturday, May 2, the list of candidates will be published in a national newspaper, which will open the period of challenges.
He recalled that any challenge must be submitted in writing, with verifiable reasons and based on the requirements established in article 68 of the Organic Law of the Supreme Court of Justice.
“Challenges must be formal, documented and in accordance with legal requirements,” he said.
The parliamentarian announced that on Monday, May 4, interviews with the candidates will begin. On that day, 30 applicants will be attended to, and on Tuesday the evaluation of the rest will continue. He explained that on Wednesday the commission will meet again to draw up the definitive list of those eligible, which will be presented to the plenary of the National Assembly.
He added that the plenary will be the body responsible for appointing the 10 citizens who, together with the 11 deputies, will make up the Judicial Nominations Committee responsible for advancing in the selection of those who will be eligible for office within the Judiciary.
