Members of the permanent committee on social development of the National Assembly held a meeting with representatives of the Polar workers' union to hear their complaints about the company's refusal to re-hire more than 300 workers.

At the meeting, the trade unionists explained that the workers were dismissed in 2016 and to date the company has refused to comply with orders from the judicial authorities related to their reengagement.

In this regard, the deputy Diva Guzmán assured that the National Assembly will accompany and address the case presented by the president of the aforementioned union, Frank Quijada, since more than 300 workers are being harmed.

He explained that this labor dispute has been going on for more than nine years at the headquarters of Los Cortijos, the capital city. He stressed that, according to the statement made by the trade unionist, the owner of the company, Lorenzo Mendoza, is allegedly violating the law, for not restoring the labor rights of those affected, claiming that this plant has no production.
