The Venezuelan Andrés Martínez won a bronze medal in the men's individual category in the South American Youth Golf Championship Chile 2026.
At Club La Dehesa in Santiago de Chile, Martínez closed his participation with a total of 289 strokes (+1), the product of rounds of 72, 71, 72 and 74, always keeping up the fight against the best players in the continent.
“The truth is that I felt very comfortable all week. I feel that my strength was the mental part, I did very well. I worked on a very good strategy with the team's coach and I'm grateful to my family, my coach and my girlfriend, we're still working hard,” Martínez said of his performance in Chile, according to a press release from the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports.
The athlete also highlighted the process he has been building together with his coach Daniel Escalera for the evolution of his game and to continue to advance in the international concert of the cane players.
“Every day I feel more comfortable. I am working hard for the next tournaments, the main objective is the South American Games, the US Junior and qualifying for the President's Cup team,” he added.
In the men's individual category Santiago Navarro finished in 15th place with 306 (+18), Daniel Mena was 19th with 308 strokes (+20).
For her part, Michelle Barrios ranked fourth with 295 (+7), María Mercedes Tablante finished sixth with 298 (+10) and Elisa Hernández in step 24 with 316 (+28) in the competition.
Finally, the women's (593, +17), men's (589, +13) and mixed (587, +11) teams finished fourth in the tournament.
