The neoliberal government of Javier Milei in Argentina made its departure from the World Health Organization (WHO) official this Wednesday, as it had proposed after his counterpart, Donald Trump, made it official in the United States (USA).
“Our country will continue to promote international cooperation in health through bilateral agreements and regional spheres, fully safeguarding its sovereignty and decision-making capacity in matters of health policies,” highlighted the Argentinian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Pablo Quirno, through the social network X.
In February of last year, Milei announced his decision to withdraw Argentina from the WHO due to the warning given by the President of the United States, Donald Trump out of dissatisfaction.
The World Health Organization (WHO), founded in 1948 and headquartered in Geneva, is the leading UN body in international public health. Its mission is to promote global health, ensure health security and serve vulnerable populations, coordinating responses to crises.
