This Tuesday, the far-right president of Argentina, Javier Milei, vetoed Law 27,790, sanctioned by Congress, which declared Bahía Blanca and Coronel Rosales as an emergency flood zone on March 7, 2025.
The Emergency Law allocated 200 billion pesos in aid, the decision, made official in Decree 424/2025, argues that the government has already implemented similar measures through resolution 238/2025, which established the Single Supplement for Reconstruction (SUR) for the same amount.
The Executive maintains that 85.43% of the registered victims have already received the subsidy and that the vetoed law lacked funding sources, Telesur said.
Official data reveal that approximately 5,500 people, almost 15% of the applicants, have not yet received the promised help, either because their cases are under analysis or because they were rejected, a reality that contradicts the presidential justification.
The veto excluded the town of Coronel Rosales from the assistance plan, despite its inclusion in the law of Congress, based on reports from the Milei government, in which it is considered that the area was not among the most affected.
