With the purpose of praising craftsmanship, the Red Art Foundation, an entity attached to the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, will carry out an extensive program of activities in 12 states in the national territory from April 21 to 27.

The agenda includes talks, fairs and exhibitions, whose central axes will be the preservation of ancient knowledge and artisanal innovation. These activities will involve the participation of students and organized communities.

The program will begin at the Valencia Art Museum (MUVA), where embroidery and macramé workshops will be held focused on the culture of peace. For its part, in the state of Aragua, creative recycling workshops will be held in the Sugarcane sector and weaving techniques at the headquarters of the State Comptroller's Office.

In Anzoátegui, craft crafts will come to life with the discussion entitled “Protecting the Essence of the Work”, a chair on intellectual property and the value of original design. Simultaneously, in Bolívar and the Capital District, “The Circle of the Word and the Creative Hands” will be presented, a space to explore ancient fiber and luthery with native woods.

The artisanal exhibition will also have a leading space in the state of Barinas with the “Barineando” sales exhibition in Plaza Bolívar, a space that will merge local crafts with the celebration of Book and Language Day. In addition, in Falcón, the Rafaela Amaya Gallery will offer an immersive experience through professional demonstrations with natural fibers and talks about their environmental impact.

In the Delta Amacuro, Trujillo, Cojedes and Yaracuy states, workshops, guided tours and days of making pieces with various fibers (soft and hard) will be held to encourage the learning of the attendees.

The closing of this agenda will take place in the Waraira Repano National Park, in Caracas, where the craft fair “Expocraftsmanship in the Heights” will be held from April 22 to 26. The Hall of Mirrors will be the space where you can buy handmade pieces.

This initiative, promoted by the Red Art Foundation and various allied institutions, seeks the commercialization and recognition of crafts as an engine of economic and social development for Venezuela.
